Ipriflavone 98%

Short Description:

Ipriflavone is a synthetic isoflavone which may be used to inhibit bone resorption,[1] maintain bone density and to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It is not used to treat osteoporosis. It slows down the action of the osteoclasts (bone-eroding cells), possibly allowing the osteoblasts (bone-building cells) to build up bone mass.Epstein flavone is white to yellowish white crystal or crystalline powder, odorless and tasteless. Soluble in chloroform or dimethylformamide, soluble in acetonitrile, acetone or ethyl acetate, difficult to dissolve in methanol, absolute ethanol or anhydrous ether, very difficult to dissolve in hexane, insoluble in water.Ipriflavone is a synthetic isoflavone which may be used to inhibit bone resorption, maintain bone density and to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It is not used to treat osteoporosis.

    Ipriflavone 98% Product Description

    Product Overview
Ipriflavone 98% is a high-purity synthetic isoflavone derived from soy daidzein, specifically formulated to support bone health. With the chemical formula C₁₈H₁₆O₃ (CAS: 35212-22-7), this compound is standardized to ≥98% purity and stored at -20°C to ensure stability and efficacy. Clinically studied for decades, it targets bone metabolism by inhibiting resorption and promoting mineralization, making it a key supplement for osteoporosis management.

    Mechanism of Action
    Ipriflavone works through dual mechanisms:

    1. Anti-Resorptive Effects: Binds to nuclear receptors in preosteoclastic cells, reducing bone breakdown without estrogenic activity on breast or uterine tissues.
    2. Osteogenic Effects: Stimulates osteoblast differentiation, enhancing collagen synthesis and alkaline phosphatase activity to build bone matrix.

    Clinical Efficacy

    • Postmenopausal Osteoporosis: Over 60 human trials, including double-blind studies, demonstrate that 600 mg/day (divided into 200 mg thrice daily) combined with 1,000 mg calcium preserves or increases bone mineral density (BMD) in women aged 50–65, outperforming calcium alone.
    • Synergy with Estrogen: Enhances low-dose estrogen therapy (0.15–0.30 mg/day), reducing bone loss risk while minimizing estrogen side effects.
    • Comparable to Pharmaceuticals: In a 12-month trial, Ipriflavone increased BMD by 4.3% vs. 1.9% with salmon calcitonin, a common osteoporosis drug.

    Key Benefits

    • Prevents Surgical/Drug-Induced Bone Loss: Effective against bone loss from glucocorticoids or GnRH agonists (e.g., Lupron), with studies showing no BMD decline in treated groups vs. significant placebo-group losses.
    • Supports Multiple Bone Disorders: Benefits Paget’s disease, renal osteodystrophy, and hyperparathyroidism.
    • Safe Long-Term Use: Evaluated in 2,769 patients over 3,132 patient-years, with adverse events (14.5%) comparable to placebo (16.1%).

    Dosage & Administration

    • Recommended Dose: 600 mg/day, divided into 200 mg thrice daily or 300 mg twice daily.
    • Optimal Use: Pair with 1,000 mg calcium and vitamin D for enhanced bone density.

    Safety & Precautions

    • Common Side Effects: Mild gastrointestinal discomfort (e.g., nausea, diarrhea), often linked to calcium co-administration.
    • Lymphocytopenia Risk: 13.2% of users may experience transient lymphocyte drops; monitoring is advised. Contraindicated in severe renal impairment.
    • Drug Interactions: May interfere with warfarin or theophylline metabolism; consult healthcare providers before combining.

    Quality Assurance

    • Purity & Testing: Manufactured under strict HPLC protocols (UV detection at 246 nm), ensuring compliance with pharmacopeial standards.
    • Solubility: Advanced cyclodextrin inclusion complexes improve bioavailability, addressing historical solubility limitations.
